Creating a culture of accessibility - Martin Underhill (Lead Accessibility Specialist, Sage)

Martin was the first accessibility specialist at Sage, a FTSE 100 company with countless digital products and a real desire to do the right thing by their users. In his three years at Sage, Martin has educated, coached, audited, and generally helped get accessibility on the agenda for as many products as possible.

In his presentation, Martin will take us through the things he has done at Sage to create a culture of accessibility, and give us some top tips for how we might do similar in the organisations we work in; large, small, or somewhere in between.

I've Spent 20 Years Making Mistakes So You Don't Have To - Gareth Ford Williams (Accessibility and Inclusive Design Strategist)

I haven't literally spent all that time getting everything wrong, but my experience is now so wide and varied, covering both Public and Commercial sectors, working on some of the world's biggest and most iconic brands, there are some things I have tried that seemed like good ides at the time, but when put into practice simply didn't work. Often because there was no precedent, but even more often because we didn't spend enough time deconstructing both the brief and the methodology.

In this session I'll select two or three examples of where everything went wrong, and follow that with some better approaches, because with hindsight we are all a little wiser. Just to be a bit controversial I'm going to start with accessibility (WCAG) auditing...
